Lower Glen Canyon river trip - May, 2008

Photo contributions by Norma Miller except where noted

Trip initiated by Norma Miller and Casey Stakauskas as part of their quest to complete all legs of the Colorado River in Arizona.  Trip participants:  Chuck and Cheryl Kline, Steve Moore, Tony Peeters, Casey and Norma.  The shuttle included all kayaks and equipment and was provided by www.coloradoriverdiscovery.com  ($23 a person plus $20 per watercraft and gear).  Such a deal.  We decided to do an overnighter on this 15-mile downriver adventure from a location below Glen Cyn. Dam to Lees Ferry.  There are three or four designated campsites en route as well as designated picnic areas, all maintained by the park service though no extra fee is required.  Since we were there on a weekday, finding an open site was easy.  They are FCFS, no reservations taken.  Plenty of blue water and awesome high-walled canyon scenery.  Nice beaches to stop and hike to petroglyphs or side canyons.  Shuttle captains provided a good historic and point-of-interest tour en route to the drop-off point.  Let's do this again next year.
